Dialogue With John Shumaker: The Historical Jesus & His Miracles in Secular History? |

In response to my essay, A Firefighter Speaks-Out, firefighter-paramedic Roy Casanova (San Antonio Fire) had responded to me indirectly by posting a letter to John Shumaker ("brother John"), who is a fire investigator on my department and also a chaplain with ties to the Fellowship of Christian Firefighters (an evangelical organization that elicited some attention in my above mentioned essay), in which he (Casanova) clearly intended to witness to me whilst padding himself with support from other firefighters with like-minded beliefs as himself. He did this by asking John to forward his letter to myself and "any and all that may be interested in my [Casanova's] response to Bruce's sad confession." Mr. Shumaker followed the directions of Mr. Casanova, and, to his credit, he also forward my response, which in turn led to my receiving a free book and some further "suggested reading" advice from Mr. Shumaker himself. But since Mr. Shumaker was the only person who actually responded directly to me, the dialogue below is to him.
