More, Is God Responsible for Killing and Terror?

Home

Bruce (from dialogue with Roy Casanova):  Why do you exalt Jesus for the lives saved but let him off for the deaths and terror? What about the total loss that other survivors experience?

AMANDA: If Jesus were the cause of the "deaths and terror", then I could see your point, but you are trying to put the blame on Him for something He didn't do.  The devil came to steal, kill and destroy, not God.  Why is it that when evil happens, you blame Jesus, the epitome of goodness?  What a treasure the devil has in you my friend.

BRUCE: I have already demonstrated elsewhere how your God (i.e., Yahweh, i.e., Jesus) murdered men, women, children, suckling infants, animals, and everything else that breaths.  But since you obviously have some problems with this, what say we take another trip down memory lane as recorded in the "Good Book":

[Deuteronomy 32:39]  See now that I {Yahweh/Jesus}, even I, am he;  there is no god besides me.  I KILL AND I MAKE ALIVE; I WOUND AND I HEAL; and no one can deliver from my hand.

[Deuteronomy 28:63]  And just as the Lord {Yahweh/Jesus} took delight in making you prosperous and numerous, so the Lord {Yahweh/Jesus} will take delight in bringing you to ruin and destruction

So, according to these verses, Amanda (and multiple others), Jesus not only causes "death" through "kill[ing]," by his own hand, but he actually takes "delight" in bringing down such "ruin" and "destruction"!  Hmmm, I'm reminded of an event from IX-XI that entailed immense "killing" (including 343 of my firefighter brothers) and immense "destruction."

As for "terrorism," Amanda, I can think of few things that would be classified under the definition of that term more accurately than the Gods and heroes of the Bible!

The term Terrorism, as it defined by the U.S. Code (which is basically the same as the World Court's definition), means any activity that (A) involves a violent act or an act dangerous to human life that is a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or any State, or that would be a criminal violation if committed within the jurisdiction of the United States or of any State; and (B) appears to be intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by assassination or kidnapping."

Indeed, I can cite multiple passages from the Bible where "God" and his chosen people regularly perform despicable acts that violate not just one or two, but every single point in which "terrorism" is identified as having occurred; and that includes the New Testament!  Would you care to make a wager on whether or not this is so, Amanda?

And what of this "evil" you are constantly professing upon some devil character that, again, did not exist for the preexilic Hebrews?  Don't you know what your own Bible says about "evil" and where it came from, Amanda?

[Isaiah 45:7]   I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. KJV (my emphasis)

[Lamentations 3:38]  Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that good and evil come? (my emphasis)

[Amos 3:6]   Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid? Does evil befall a city, unless the LORD has done it? (my emphasis)

So, Amanda, would you care to revise your assertions about your God not being the cause of "death and terror" and destruction in the world?  Your own God says he is the cause for these things, but since you have taken it upon yourself thus far to speak for this God in telling me what he does and does not think and do, may I assume that you will continue this trend by claiming that your own God is a liar here?
