This page features debates and opposing dialogue exchanges on the
various topics being covered (or will be covered) on the FFI website: e.g., 'Does God
Exist?'; separation of church and state; Creation vs. evolution; morals
& ethics; The Ten Commandments in the public schools;
vouchers for private schools, etc. Some of these are formal
debates, while others are informal exchanges, but all of them offer
differing perspectives that the reader is left to contemplate for
him/her self.
A Firefighter Speaks-Out
The following are responses and dialogues I have received and
responded to from people around the world who had read my essay on the
Internet. In all I have received more than 200 emails and letters,
with 95 percent of these being of the complimentary ("thank you!")
nature. While I am greatly appreciative of these (and will share a
few) it is much more important, I think, to show the dissenting views
and how they stand up to critical examination.
This is my detailed rebuttal to Amanda Jones, a
fundamentalist Christian from South Africa who felt compelled to write
to me after reading my dialogue with the Christian firefighter from
San Antonio, Roy Casanova.
The dialogue is divided up by topic, and there is one topic you will
not want to miss: Jesus Drowns Toddler
For 'Sins' of His Mother!
More fallout from my dialogue with Roy Casanova,
the firefighter from San Antonio. Here, the discussion is directed
toward the historical Jesus and "evidence" for his
"miracles" in the "secular records." Evidence
cited is from Josephus, and the
apocryphal Christian work, The Acts of Pilate.
Serpentine
Logic
An outstanding article written by Dan Barker of the Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF),
detailing his
point-counterpoint encounter between and Dr. Walter Kaiser, President of Gordon-Conwell Theological
Seminary in Massachusetts.
St. Louis Rams: "God's
Team"?
After the St. Louis Rams won the Superbowl two years
ago quarterback Kurt Warner, a born-again Christian, wasted no time in
giving credit to Jesus and using his newfound fame to evangelize his
Christian beliefs in the media. In typical fashion, "His
story" was quickly converted into an "emotional
testimonial" and began making the rounds on Christian websites and
email forwarding. One of the firefighters on my department (Tom
W.), a member of the Fellowship of Christian Firefighters (FCF)
forwarded the testimonial to me.
A Wager on Old Testament Atrocities:
Defending Michael Shermer
This is my rebuttal to Richard Abanes, an
evangelical Christian and supposed "cult expert" who is also
one of those activists that admonish Harry Potter as being some
dangerous evil that will infect the minds of our children. But
here the topic is atrocities in the Bible.
